FINE FLEECE BREEDERS

Monga Alpacas is a Huacaya alpaca breeder. The stud is located in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, 20 kilometers East of Braidwood off the Kings Highway.

This area of the Southern Highlands is about 750 metres above sea level. The afternoon sea breeze often generates low cloud that engulfs the property and surrounding forest in, what the locals refer to as, the Monga Mist.

Historically the area has averaged 1500 millimeters of rainfall annually however, over the last 15 years, this has fallen to about 1100 millimeters.

Monga Alpacas is committed to breeding fine fleeced white alpacas with a high fleece density. Our stud males have been awarded Supreme Champion Huacaya Fleece at the Royal Canberra Show in 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016 and at the Sydney Royal Easter Show in 2013 and 2015. They have also been awarded Most Valuable Commercial Fleece at the Royal Canberra Show in 2014, 2015, and 2016, and have been Champion or Reserve Champion in their class at the Notional Show in 2014 and 2015.

Monga Khan was certified in 2015. He was awarded Supreme Champion Fleece and Most Valuable Commercial Fleece at Canberra Royal in 2014 and in 2015 he again took out Most Valuable Commercial Fleece along with Champion Fleece 30-48 months and Best Light Fawn Fleece in the show.
